I didn't forget about Feedback!

Hey, you thought I forgot to keep talking about Sudowrite’s Feedback feature, didn’t you? Didn’t you!? Well, let’s not waste time, then.

Sudowrite does a lot of things, from drafting alongside a human author to helping with an outline to maintaining a story bible, and more. But the latest thing, Feedback, is pretty cool. It’s essentially a developmental editor and a beta reader for your material. Whether written in Sudowrite’s app or imported, you can still use this function.

I chose to import my last manuscript, Little Aliens. And since it’s a pretty sizable document, it took a while, but it was fascinating once the initial import and analysis finished.

The first report came in sections. To start, I received an “executive summary.” And I cannot stress this enough: if you want to read Little Aliens unspoiled, then do not read this stuff.

It said:

Atmospheric & Immersive: Your Nevada desert setting is incredibly vivid, acting as a silent, powerful character that shapes the lives of everyone in Lancelot.

Heartbreakingly Tender: The quiet, slow-burning romance between Hayley and Alan, culminating in REDACTED, is handled with beautiful emotional resonance.

Pacing & Agency: The opening chapters lean heavily into exposition. Accelerating the plot and giving Hayley more active agency will hook readers much faster.

Already you’re working with something, positive and negative, and if you think that Sudowrite won’t come around again on the Hayley question, just wait until we get deeper into this. But that’ll be another time.
