Sam Hawken, writer-guy

Let's try this again.

I made my first blog-type entry around my birthday in 1999. That is so long ago now that I cringe to think about it, though not quite as much as I cringe remembering the stuff I wrote. Oversharing is a polite way to put it, and I would never blog that way again for any amount of money.

In the years since, I’ve had blogs all over the place, hosted and self-hosted. I’ve gone for years on some, weeks on others. I find I don’t really have the fire that the best bloggers have, so the iron only stays hot for so long.

So, I will try this again. In the weeks that follow, you’ll probably see me rant about this or that, but I find myself gravitating toward the act of writing in tandem with AI. It’s a hot topic, but I’m not talking about it for the hits. Rather, I want to point out how panic and ignorance are setting back the very people who could most benefit from this revolutionary technology. You don’t hear a lot of pro-AI talk in the writing community. That will make this blog stand out, I imagine.

There are no comments, no discussion boards, no email addresses where you can share your outrage. This is an entirely one-way street.

To start, I want to talk about the collapse of Jerry Falade's publishing deal with Minotaur, but that’ll have to wait until next time. See you then.
