Music to my ears.
Occasionally, I get on musical kicks. I think everybody does. You get stuck on a particular song or artist or even genre, and it dominates your listening for days. Such was the case when I stumbled across by Shahar Saul and Agam Buhbut called “באתי להציל אותך.” That translates as “I Came Here to Save You.” Some translations substitute rescue for save, but it’s essentially the same.
I won’t bore you with the story, and you can always watch the video if you want more, but I will say it’s incredibly catchy. Even if you don’t speak Hebrew, you can get caught up in the vocals, the instrumentation, and the beat. It has an insane hook, too, that’ll have you humming until you’re about to lose your mind.
Anyway, discovering that song led me down a rabbit hole of more songs by Saul, Buhbut, and Eden Hason, among others. There’s a huge pop music scene in Israel, and their hip-hop is likewise excellent. And, again, you don’t have to speak Hebrew to enjoy them. So click some of these links and listen for yourself.
Will I eventually move on to something else? Of course. That’s inevitable. All fires die, to be replaced by new ones. But I think it’s easier for that fire to burn again once it’s happened, which means someday in the foreseeable future, I’ll be listening to the same artists and songs on endless repeat.
Happy listening, everybody!
