Sam Hawken, writer-guy

Searching for a project.

The Guilty went to the publisher this week so the copyeditor could get to work on it. The release date is still May 2025, so watch this space.

In the meantime, I have to think about what to do next. I’ve been in neutral for a while, writing stuff that hasn’t been intended for publication while tinkering with things that are for publication but aren’t quite ready yet. I look forward to releasing the final Camaro Espinoza novel soon, as plenty of folks out there are anxious to know how her story ends. I don’t think they’ll be disappointed.

Whatever the case, I need to keep busy, so I’m looking through my notes to find the perfect project. I have several choices, some of which could keep me busy for a long time. I won’t go into it too deeply, but one option would occupy every working hour for the next couple of years before completion. It’s a fun idea, but it will take long time to see fruition, and I need to decide if that’s a time investment worth making.

Still, any work is better than nothing. I’m on record here and elsewhere, saying writers should write daily. I haven’t changed my mind about that, and I hammer out my words five to seven days a week without fail. But eventually, one must create something to sell. Otherwise, writing is simply a time-consuming hobby.

Hmm… I guess we’re all about to find out what comes next together.
